Three steps
Fill out the youth application on Scouting America’s BeAScout site and pay the registration fee.
Open the application ↗A uniform shirt with insignia and a belt are required. The Pack provides the neckerchief and slide. Shop at the Quivira Council Scout Shop, 3247 N. Oliver.
Pack Meetings are usually the third Monday of the month at 7 PM in the STA Cafeteria.
Why Cub Scouts
Scouting America’s mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. That starts in Cub Scouts.
Every rank is a clear path of reachable goals. The habit of setting a goal and working toward it follows Scouts into school, work and life.
Scouts lead projects and peers from the start, and get more chances to lead as they move up in rank.
What once seemed impossible becomes doable. Scouts learn to take on hard tasks head-on, a skill they’ll use for the rest of their lives.

What your Scout needs
Scouts wear navy blue shorts or pants with the uniform. Prices are approximate.
Parents
We need you to run a great program. Work with your Scout at home on their requirements as they move toward their next rank.
Cub Scouting is a Parish apostolate, so please prayerfully consider giving your time and talents as an adult leader or volunteer. The more adults who help, the easier it is to make it a great year for every Scout.
See volunteer rolesVIRTUS is required for all active adults in the Pack.
Safeguarding Youth Training is required for every parent or guardian attending Quivira Council events. It takes about 72 minutes and must be retaken every year.

Membership
Don’t pay through the renewal email from Scouting America. That link only covers National and Council dues. It skips your Pack dues and your popcorn discount. Ignore those emails: the Pack collects everything, applies your discount, and sends one check to Council.

Race weekend
Bring change for snacks and drinks during the races.
Measure your car and check off the rules. Every car must pass before it races.
The rules
Dimensions. Width no more than 2¾ inches, length no more than 7 inches, and weight no more than 5 ounces.
Materials. Axles, wheels and body must come from the official kit. Extra official wheels may be bought separately. No wheel bearings, washers or bushings. The car can’t ride on springs, must be free-wheeling with no starting devices, and can’t carry loose materials.
Lubrication. No oil. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.

Leave No Trace
I promise to practice the Leave No Trace principles wherever I go:
Hands on
Raise your right arm straight up. Hold your first two fingers apart in a V, like a wolf’s ears, with your thumb over the other two fingers.
Make the sign, then put your two fingers together and touch them to the brim of your cap or your right eyebrow.
Shake right hands as usual, and rest your first two fingers along the inside of the other person’s wrist.

Leaders & committee
Cub Scouting doesn’t happen without adult volunteers, up front or behind the scenes. The roles aren’t hard, and we help each other out. The best way to start is to come to a committee meeting.
2026–27
Den leaders
Where you fit
Leads the Pack Meeting as master of ceremonies and supports the den leaders.
Usually a parent. Runs the den’s adventures from the Cub Scout handbook and Den Leader Guide.
The Pack’s top volunteer. Makes sure there are enough trained adults to run the program and leads committee meetings.
Outdoor activities, treasurer, secretary, membership, popcorn, fundraising and more. What talent can you bring?
Tip: start learning a position this year so you can take it on next year. Ask the Cubmaster or Committee Chair how you can help.
Meeting schedule

The Monday before the Pack Meeting, 7 PM, O’Shea Conference Room. All leaders attend; all parents welcome.
First Thursday, 7 PM, at Plumbers & Pipefitters Apprenticeship Training, 4646 W Kellogg Dr. For the Committee Chair and Cubmaster; parents welcome.
